Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Bedford public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
School District Energy Upgrades
Peter Woodbury School may get four pre-2000 transformers replaced, plus freezer optimization and LED lighting, all potentially funded by Eversource. The district also joined a community solar project expected to save $26,000-$30,000 a year.
BHS Graduation coverage funding
The school district is expected to cover the roughly $3,000 cost of televising Bedford High graduation this year, pending confirmation from Superintendent Fournier. BCTV will cover the ceremony either way, though coverage could be scaled back if funding falls through.
Parental Bill of Rights impact on school sports coverage
A new state law briefly threatened BCTV's ability to record school games and concerts without signed parental permission. The school district collected the needed permissions so coverage could continue, and lawmakers are expected to amend the law to fix the unintended consequence.
